Germany Quick Tour

We arrived at the Munich Airport in Germany on Thursday morning.  Since I've been to the airport before, getting around was easy. We got our luggage and went right to the rental car desk, where I found out that we got a free upgrade because they didn't have the vehicle type I had reserved available. The Mercedes C-class is very nice and roomy. It's also quite stable on the Autobahn at 200 kph! I could get used to this very quickly.

We checked into the Creatif Hotel Elephant and then I went to the office. After work we were invited to eat at the Wirtshaus in der Au. The food was great, and the beer was of course excellent (hey, it's Germany!). I wish we'd had more time to spend visiting the sights in Munich, but the first week of this trip is a bit of a whirlwind. Perhaps on the back end of the trip we'll have some time.

Friday morning we drove to Regensburg at yes, 200 kph when I could. After checking into the Grand Orphee Hotel, I once again drove to the office. Our office is located within the Infineon site in Regensburg. This is actually the former location of one of the Messerschmitt Aircraft factories during WWII. One of the hangar buildings still exists, and the road into site was the original runway.

Today was the first opportunity I had to get around town. We wandered around looking at the sights in this historic city, including it's most famous location, the Dom St. Peter's Cathedral. In my next blog I'll share some pictures.

European Vacation

Well, it's not really a vacation for me. I'll be working on the weekdays while Janine gets to do some sightseeing. Here's a map of our planned route, which begins and ends in Munich, Germany.

The cities we will definitely visit are Munich, Regensberg, Tubingen, Boeblingen, Turin, Verona, Vicenza, and Venice.   There will be more to come as we get ready for the trip.
